Affiliates REFERON
AI and chatGPT made huge advancements, not just in iGaming, but across the board. Now you have companies immersing themselves into AI to see what they can get out of it. Colleagues and I have been working on how it can be used within affiliate
platforms.Likely in the form of mail send-outs, data trending, churning, probabilities - essentially, smart data analysis. Our focus for this year is getting a foundation of that data first, specifically more real-time data and unique reward mechanics.
By market trends I mean we need to be up to date on things that would be nice to have or some neat features of how the system works, have them put together and then bounce off that. It's not the same as looking at other platforms and copying them as we base it on our own foundations to build a better tower.
You really must do a little bit of both to be truly and fully product centric. You may lose touch with what the market's doing if you're client centric. If you're market centric you may be a step behind because when they come to you with a problem, it won't be an immediate fix. To succeed you need to have the right blend of product ownership.
So, by market centric you mean overarching market trends as opposed to adapting product to specific markets?
It can be both. You do have some emerging markets which are more mature than others. For example, compare the German market to Brazil. It sounds stupid to say out loud, but they're not the same. Te way the players are, the way the affiliates are - the demands are very different. If you're focused in one region, you'll get this bias in reporting. It's important to look across the board. For example, the US is going to change rapidly. Tey are very techie out there, but then if you look at LATAM they have small player bases and the affiliates are Spanish speaking, so we need language support.
Does ReferOn want a 'home market' so to speak, or to be a truly global platform?
Te very notion of ReferOn is not dependent on a particular market. It's fully dependent on where clients are focusing their affiliate traffic. As a ReferOn user, you can say, okay, these operators have international oversight. Tey both have mixed local licences, say Curacao licences, whereas you may find another program who wants a user system that's purely Swedish. We don't pick and choose. We're very open to all suggestions. It just so happens that
some of our operators are more European focused right now, and others have Australia and New Zealand as market focuses. Generally, there is a larger push to LATAM in recent months, and as it grows into the US, that will be something we will investigate too.
What are the latest advancements in AI and data harnessing tech that ReferOn is utilising and working with to make it the platform of tomorrow?
Tis is a good segue following on from what we've been discussing about market trends. Just look back at 2023.
Tis will help broaden our foundation of data visibility, access points, and understand the data quicker. We've had a lot of other things on our prioritisation list, but we are looking to do this in 2024.
More specifically, we're looking at how AI can
introduce us to new ways of looking at data in the system. Currently, a lot of our operators are a once-a-day feature and if you're doing AI, that's just not smart enough. You can look at historic data, but the quicker you have that data in and start making decisions, the faster the data collection, the quicker you can establish trends. We need to settle that first, and then we'll be looking at further technologies.
What will ReferOn be showcasing at iGB Affiliate next month? What forthcoming updates will you be sharing with visitors on the booth?
Without giving too much away, between now and Q2 we'll have extra editions of sub- affiliation and post-backs, in which you'll be able to see all your events and setups as a one- stop shop in the system. Once you get all of these, it becomes much easier to have a full view of what's going on with affiliates, data, setups, and everything in one system. You don't need to rely on third-party tools. We do have a few other things in the pipeline which will be coming later in the year.
We don't exactly have exact ETAs on these, but next updates will focus on payment solutions, reporting capabilities, and rewarding capabilities. I don't want to give too much away just yet, but they are going to revisit some of those great features and make them even better as we go forward.
What are your expectations for 2024?
I'm expecting to double or triple our existing client roster by this time next year, fingers crossed as well as further rollouts of fantastic features. I'd like to grow the team that's under me by that time because we'll have more clients, we'd need some more support, more sales, etc. Ultimately, to grow in all aspects, both internally and externally, getting the ReferOn brand out there. Anyone who wants to reach out to me to find out more can do so on LinkedIn or come by our stand Q10 at iGB Affiliate 2024.
