ReferOn: the right blend of product ownership
iGB Affiliate 2024 marks almost one year since ReferOn’s launch. How do you reflect on the last year for the business? What were the significant milestones and challenges faced?
We went live in February, so we haven't quite done a full year yet. Overall, it was one of innovation and growth, not just in the team, but we've developed huge advances on our features that we rolled out from our initial stages. We've revolutionised as we've gone along, giving loads of control back to the affiliate users and the admin users. We consistently have updates ready every three to four weeks.
We're getting new clients all the time, whether it be those who've expressed an interest or those coming on board. We're doing migrations and clean slate stuff as well. In our first 12 months we have got 11 clients, with more in the pipeline. We also had some great achievements at some awards that surprised even me.
We've received the Rising Star Award from 5 Star iGaming Media and at iGB Affiliate we have been nominated for Best Tech Affiliates. I thought we were in the running for the Best Tech Affiliates Platform, but we managed to pick up the award for Best Tech Affiliates, which shows that the feedback is very well received. We're going to constantly revise, optimise and get ReferOn’s offer even better than the 'industry standards' out there as we move into our second year of operation.
What clients do you have on the books?
Sure. I'd say our biggest one is 7StarsPartners. We went live with them in September and that saw a lot of affiliates suddenly sit up and take notice. We have also had 247Partners coming onboard. Te others are a bit cleaner slate, if you will, but those are the two big ones.
Two factor authentication logins, mobile user enhancements, the addition of EPC reward structures - have updates such as these been in the development roadmap for several months or is spare dev capacity always built-in the pipeline to handle partner requests in real- time?
We've improved further on some of those features you mention with more mobile responsiveness and a bit more on those reward plan structures. We have post backs coming within the system very soon as well as IDC, which is kind of non-bundling. A few other payment improvements are coming too.
In these rollouts, we also make backend and

front-end changes. You may see an update which has small changes, but in the backend, it's preparation for what's coming up. We try to mix it up, so we have something big updates continuously being rolled out. Some of them are client focused, but we also have market focused trends to ensure we're at the top of the chain of programmes out there.
Would you say the updates are predominantly client led or market led, or is it genuinely a mixture of both?
It's a mix. To err is to be human so to speak - maybe there are things we have missed which we take on board and potentially reprioritise as a result. Te backlog we had when we created the product was huge. We're gradually getting through them but at the same time we have clients coming on board and providing their own feedback.
