Seymour, CT — Air-Vac has introduced its AVX1000, a high-performance SMT rework system designed for a wide range of PCB assem- blies. This fully automated platform pro- vides precision motion control for all re- work and site-cleaning procedures. Com- ponents from 01005 (0402 metric) to 4.9 in. (125 mm) BGAs can easily be reworked with the AVX1000’s single and multiple field of view options. An actual board image background simplifies and positive- ly identifies rework sites. Both optical and digital zoom with auto-focus features pro- vide excellent image quality. An automatic nozzle changer ensures
process speed and operator safety. Vacu- um sensing electronics provide control for gentle, automatic component removal, while a non-contact site cleaning tip’s
height is accurately monitored and maintained. Component placement, pickup, flux/solder dipping,

and drop-off are all motorized. A high-efficiency 2,000W heating element with PID control ensures repeatable thermal performance. A closed- loop mass flow controller regulates heat flow. The AVX1000 has a radiant IR panel bot-
tom heater designed to provide robust thermal uniformity. Preheating of boards is tempera- ture-based, using an IR sensor. With integrat- ed PCB cooling, the system is brought back to its initial conditions for process repeatability. The AVX also has fully automatic, non-contact site cleaning, automatic and easy-to-use ther- mal profiling software, and is available with a wide range of standard and custom nozzles to
