Healthy Options and Physical Activity in the Community

Through our community-based, healthy options and activity initiative, the faculty provides access to activity sessions and guidance on healthy living and lifestyles to local residents and groups.

Input and activities, some in conjunction with the North Glasgow, Community Health & Care Partnership, run very successfully in a variety of centres in the north of the city to include the Millenium Centre (Possilpark), Milton Community Centre, Barmulloch Learning Centre, Keppoch C.C. to name but a few.

The courses and classes offer something for all ages and abilities, from expert advice on a range of health topics and exercise activities to participation in sport and fitness training even during holiday periods.

Skills for Work

The faculty offers the Skills for Work Int 2 Sport & Recreation to a variety of secondary schools from the Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire area, with the added bonus of a secured placement experience, in one of their sports facilities, provided by the local authority.

This placement supplements the theory and practical work done in the college during the two years the S3 and S4 pupils attend the college on a day release basis.
