City & Guild 4101 VRQ Ft Level 2 & SVQ Dr Level 3
Vehicle Body & Paint Operations
SCQF Level 6 & 7
DESCRIPTION
This City & Guild 4101 Level 2 course is provided over one year on a full-time basis for learners desiring to achieve a qualification in vehicle repair. This version of the course, although a discrete qualification, can also be used towards achievement of the 4101 SVQ award.
The course is particularly relevant for learners seeking employment or interested in progressing towards self employment in the trade. The course includes two distinct areas of study i.e. body repair and paint (refinishing). Allowing learners to subsequently choose which specialist subject they prefer for future study.
The course is supplemented by the opportunity for those learners who require to upgrade their Core Skills. Completion of these units contribute to achievements of the Modern Apprentice qualification.
Both course options are also available on a day release basis for body and refinishing. The VRQ qualification is principally for those not in employment and practical assessment is done with the college.
The SVQ course is for employed learners and consists of day release attendance and work placed assessment as in the VRQ. The inclusion of core skills provision allows a learner to achieve the Modern Apprenticeship Award.
CONTENT
Learners are required to complete nine units, three General, three Bodywork and three Paint. The course is structured to allow the study of technical aspects and knowledge required by entrants to this area of employment and is reinforced by the opportunity to develop practical skills.
Detailed information of course content can be found on the City and Guilds website.
Certification requires successful completion of: 1 Knowledge testing (online multiple choice)
2 Competence testing (practical tasks – college based)
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of three Standard Grades at level 3 or above. This may be waived at the discretion of the course leader. All applicants will be interviewed and may in some cases be required to sit an aptitude test.
