National Progression Award in Construction NPA
SCQF Level 4–6
DESCRIPTION
The NPA in Construction equips candidates for employment in Construction, or for progression to qualifications like SVQs or Modern Apprenticeships, or to professional qualifications. Individual Units are matched against the National Occupational Standards (NOS).
The NPA is a practical, mostly workshop taught to give workplace experience in close contact with the training/education provider. The structure allows candidates to take Units across a range of crafts or specialise in a single craft.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The Qualification is suitable for school leavers; S5 & S6 candidates; adults returning to education; progression candidates eg Skills for Work Construction Crafts at SCQF Levels 4 & 5; the unemployed who wish to enhance their career prospects.
QUALIFICATIONS & PROGRESSION
Will enhance the prospects of successful learners to enter work as a trainee in one of the disciplines.

Higher National Certificate
Electronic & Electrical Engineering
SCQF Level 7
DESCRIPTION
Completion of this one year course, which can be studied full or part time, will allow the learners to progress to HND or to enter the industry at technician level. This course is available on a day release basis for either Electronic or Electrical Engineering.

Electrical Principles | Programmable Controls | Analogue/Digital/Power Electronics | Three Phase Supplies | Plant Utilisation | Computing | Quality Issues.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
NQ in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or at the discretion of the Faculty. Mature learners with experience welcomed.
QUALIFICATIONS & PROGRESSION
SQA HNC in Electronic & Electrical Engineering. Successful learners may gain entry to an HND at Stow College or Caledonian University degree level course or enter the industry at technician level.
