Students from the NGC Access Nursing SWAP course were interviewed by Alison Irvine from SWAP West.

Here is an excerpt of the responses:

When asked what the ‘best bits’ of their SWAP year were, their responses ranged from the personal – ‘self discovery’, ‘confidence’ and ‘making friends’ – to the academic – ‘human biology,’ and ‘passing exams’. When asked if they discovered they were good at subjects they weren’t so good at in school their answers ranged from sciences to social sciences to written communications. Here there was no group answer – each student had his or her own set of achievements.

The final question we asked was ‘are you glad you made the return to education.’ The answers were succinct and unambiguous:

• Absolutely • Definitely • Without a doubt • Yes, it has been the best decision I have made for myself.

Qualifications & Progression

North Glasgow College provides a wide range of programmes that lead to various qualifications. The Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) shown in the table below illustrates how progression can be made by obtaining SQA Qualifications, Higher Education Qualifications and Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs).

Each programme in our prospectus explains the entry requirements you may need to start the programme and included in each course description there is a small section explaining what qualifications you could achieve and how you might progress on completion, e.g. further education, university (entering either 1st, 2nd or 3rd year), or employment.
