Higher National Certificate
Social Care – Full-Time
SCQF Level 7
DESCRIPTION
An advanced social care course for learners with a commitment to a career in the social care sector. This is a one year (36 weeks) full-time course which is also available on a day release and assessment on demand basis for experienced Social Care workers, currently in employment. The course incorporates 3 units from SVQ 3 Health & Social Care. The full-time course has a significant practical placement element.

Social Care Theory | Social Policy | Psychology | Sociology | Graded Unit | SVQ Units: Communication | Reflect and Develop Your Practice | Health & Safety | Stress Management | Counselling Awareness.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Ideally candidates should have experience of social care either as a volunteer or as an employee and Communication 4 or equivalent.
QUALIFICATIONS & PROGRESSION
Progression to employment in Social Care sector; possible progression to BA Social Work and contribution towards registration with SSSC.

Introduction to
Childcare
SCQF Level 4
DESCRIPTION
This full-time course will suit candidates hoping to move on to the National Certificate course and will give an introduction to early education and childcare.
CONTENT
Child Development and Health | Care and Feeding of Children | Language and Literacy in Early Years | An Introduction to Play | Core Skills.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The minimum entry requirements are 3 standard Grades at general level or equivalent, including English. Preference will be given to those applicants with more than the minimum entry requirements. Entry will also be based on a successful interview. Mature candidates with no formal qualification are also invited to apply.
QUALIFICATIONS & PROGRESSION
Successful completion of the course gives a guaranteed interview for our NC Early Education and Childcare course.
