DESCRIPTION
A National Certificate course for those intending to work with young children.
CONTENT
Child Development – Birth to 12 years | Play in Early Education in Childcare | Holistic Approaches to Child Health | Supporting Children’s Rights and Entitlements | Communication | Information Technology | Working with Others. This course includes a practical work placement.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applications for the course are welcomed from both males and females. The minimum entry requirements, are 3 Standard Grade passes at credit level including English. Preference will be given to those applicants with more than the minimum entry requirement. Mature candidates with no formal qualifications are also invited to apply; entry will be based on experience, a written assignment and a successful interview.
QUALIFICATIONS & PROGRESSION
To HNC Early Education and Childcare or into employment as a Support Worker in the Childcare Sector.

DESCRIPTION
Successful completion of this one year, full-time course leads to full registration for employment as an Early Years Practitioner. The course combines theory with a substantial element of practical placement.
CONTENT
Working in an Early Years and Childcare Setting | Children and Young People’s Rights | Theoretical Approaches to Development and Learning | Early Education and Childcare | Graded Unit | Curriculum and Assessment of Early Years and Childcare Setting and 5 Optional Units.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The entry requirements for this course are NC Early Education and Childcare or SVQ Level 2. Mature candidates with considerable practical experience and a proven academic record will also be considered.
QUALIFICATIONS & PROGRESSION
Progression to employment and registration as an Early Education Practitioner.
