DESCRIPTION
This 2 year full-time course combines the practical application and theory of specific subjects related to football and is aimed at learners who have a particular interest in Football Coaching.
LEARNERS WILL WORK TOWARDS THE SFA QUALIFICATION:
• ‘Childrens’ Player Pathways 5-12 year olds’ • ‘Early Touches’ • ‘Working with Young Footballers’ • ‘Coaching in the Game’
The College has established a formal working relationship with the SFA and Glasgow City Council to deliver a programme of coach education with second year learners. This programme includes the first three levels of the ‘Youth’ syllabus and incorporates a workplace experience structured around the SFA schools initiative.

Sports Coaching Theory and Practice | Anatomy, Physiology and Energy Systems | Coaching of Sports: Level 1 | First Aid for Sport | Preparation for Employment in Sport | Workplace Experience | Graded Unit (Coaching) | Working with Children in a Sporting Context | Psychology of Sports Coaching | Sports Mechanics | Coaching of Sports: Level 2 | Research Investigation in Sport | Assisting Sports for Disability | Event Management in Sport | Nutrition, Nutrition for Fitness, Health & Exercise.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
2 SQA Highers – one of which should be English or language based or an NQ certificate course with Higher core skills. It would be an advantage if learners had an affiliation with a football club and are able to demonstrate practical competence in football or have some experience coaching. Mature learners without formal qualifications considered.
QUALIFICATIONS & PROGRESSION
SQA HND Sports Coaching with Development. Access to university degree programmes and an opportunity of employment with local sports authorities and the SFA.
