Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)

DESCRIPTION

The new Certificate of Professional Competence has been revamped to meet the demanding requirements of modern HGV & PSV operations. As a registered centre, the college offers a distance learning programme which is fully supported by professional study packs including DVDs and Audio CDs. There is excellent tutorial support and costs are extremely competitive. Examinations are held 4 times a year.

National Qualification

Building Services Engineering (HVAC)

SCQF Level 4 – 6

DESCRIPTION

A two year block release – 8 x 1 week blocks, the National Certificate is aimed at providing learners with an introductory level of knowledge in the basic principles of Building Services Engineering. The course focus is on the design, installation, maintenance and management of a building’s services systems i.e. Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning.

Construction Technology and Design | Building Services Engineering Science | Building Services Engineering Technology | Building Services Engineering Thermofluids | Air Conditioning and Ventilation Technology | Mathematics | Health, Safety and Welfare | Heating and Plumbing Technology | Graphical Detailing | Electrical & Electronic Technology | Building Services Design Project | Refrigeration Technology.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

At the discretion of the centre and subject to pre-course interview. Candidates entering the course would ideally have the following:

• Minimum of 4 standard grades at level 3 or above to include either maths or physics

• An NC in another related discipline

• Must be employed in the building services industry

Consideration will also be given to candidates with no formal qualifications but who have experience of building engineering services applications.

This programme is typically, although not exclusively, for new entrants into the industry, normally as an engineering technician and funded by a training provider e.g. BEST, (Building Engineering Services Training), although access will also be available to others with requirements to have a basic understanding of the principles of Building Engineering Services.

QUALIFICATIONS & PROGRESSION

Upon successful completion the learner receives a National Certificate in Building Services Engineering and the progression route to the Higher National Certificate in Building Services Engineering.
