So what we’re doing is, the application server has been told to backup, the backup client will copy the metadata to the media server, but the actual data transfer stays on the Storage Area Network based on our snapshot or point in time copy. Once the catalogue is built it still comes back over the LAN. So, unless you’ve got millions of small files, the LAN is probably not going to become the bottleneck.
