• Dual-ported nodes are connected to both switches for full redundancy.
• Each pair of devices communicates through only one possible data path. The alternate data path is used only if the primary fabric data path fails.
• This is the most fault-resilient type of fabric because even a serious error that propagates through the primary fabric will not take the system offline.
• Redundant fabrics can be useful when performing fabric upgrades, especially switch firmware upgrades.
