The best practice is to configure single initiator zoning. We take a single initiator port and put it into a zone, then into that same zone we will add the target addresses of the devices that initiator can use.
A device can be in more than one zone, but you still want to configure single initiator zoning. A single initiator refers to a single host port, if a host has two or more ports for redundancy, then a separate zone should be created for each port. It is easier to add/remove devices or to reconfigure zone information when using single initiator zoning.
Another benefit of zoning is that devices will only see changes that are made within the zone they are in. When you go from one zone configuration, Zoneset, to another you should never disable the old one . If you disable a zone configuration, depending on your default behaviour, either every device sees everybody or each device sees nobody.
