– Join devices without merging fabrics – Create phantom Domains – Perform NAT to join separate address spaces – Connect to switches via EX_Ports – Create IFLs – Perform functions similar to iFCP gateways – Implement FCRP
LSANs use a Brocade multi-protocol router to:
• Join fabrics, in the sense of allowing devices in separate fabrics to communicate, without merging the fabrics. Merging fabrics requires Domain ID and address space resolution, and limits the scalability of the merged fabric.
• Create phantom domains to allow each fabric to retain its namespace and Domain ID.
• Perform Network Address Translation (NAT) to join the separate address spaces for each “edge fabric” or separate SAN fabric.
