Fibre Channel Addressing and Routing Fabric Configuration Process
Fabric Configuration
• A series of three actions are performed to accomplish fabric configuration:
1. Link initialization 2. Principal Switch selection 3. Domain ID assignment
• After the fabric is configured, the FSPF protocol begins to build routing tables and select paths
When a fabric is first initialized, a new switch is added to an existing fabric, or a link becomes active, a series of initialization actions are performed to configure (or “build”) the fabric. There are three stages associated with fabric configuration: • Link Initialization • Principal Switch Selection • Assign Domain ID
After these processes are complete, the FSPF protocol begins, routing tables are built, and routing paths are selected.
