Routing Requirements
• Without a routing protocol:

– Each frame is routed based only on the destination ID
– Potential for ‘looping’ of frames
– Potential for out-of-order delivery
In any complex network, the potential exists for routing errors: • Frames can inadvertently be routed in a loop. • Frames can take different paths through the network and can be delivered out of order.
