Today, SNMP is the primary means for integrating SAN device and fabric management into enterprise management applications like HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, and CA Unicenter. These applications offer some support for SAN devices, but customers who want tighter integration need to manually integrate each device.
To do this, they can:
• Obtain the standard FC MIB and vendor-supplied MIBs for each SAN device.
• Compile and load the MIBs into the enterprise management application.
• Create SNMP traps to pull data from the device. • Create custom actions and reports in the enterprise management application.
