Dependent variable
A linear function has the following form: y = mx + c or f ( x) =mx + c
A linear function has one independent variable and one dependent variable.
c is the constant term or the y -intercept.
m is the coeffi cient of the independent variable ( x ) . It is also known as the slope and gives the rate of change of the dependent variable ( y ).
f (p) means if the input is p , what is the output (or y ), where p is some number or variable?
