Off-season? No problem eBasketball Sustains Betting Momentum
Basketball is one of the most dynamic, popular and bet-friendly sports in the world, consistently ranking among the top spots in betting volume across global markets - yet it's recently suffered a dip in betting activity. Peter Camden, Competitive Gaming Product Manager at SIS, explains how eBasketball can step in when less competitive matches are playing out on a professional court.
Basketball's fast pace, frequent scoring and array of player stats present a broad range of wagering options. Te sheer volume of live matches – over 1200 professional top-tier games in the US in total per season – and the global draw of world-class talent make professional basketball the go-to sport for bettors, offering everything from a simple overs-under proposition to a complex same game parlay (SGP).
Last year, the US sports betting industry reached a record $13.71bn in revenue. Nearly $150bn in total wagers placed marked a 25 per cent increase from the previous year, with professional basketball accounting for a significant portion of those wagers. Tis year’s March Madness, the American Gaming Association estimates, produced $3bn in bets from US customers.
While top-tier basketball leagues remain hugely popular, recent figures suggest a dip in interest. According to a report by Eilers & Krejcik Gaming, as cited by the New York Post, betting activity has declined by 10 per cent this year across major US states compared to

2024. Tis drop has been attributed in part to the dominance of small-market teams and less competitive matchups, which have led to wider point spreads and reduced bettor engagement. And while live betting continues to grow, with volume up 47 per cent and margins improving from 7.9 per cent to 8.5 per cent, the seasonal downtime still leaves a revenue gap for operators to fill.
Tat is where complementary betting products can step in to keep players engaged.
Te eBasketball product offered by SIS, part of its Competitive Gaming H2H Global Gaming League, is specifically designed to address this gap. Crucially, it mirrors the structure and star appeal of real-world basketball leagues, featuring the same teams and recognisable players in action, delivering short-form matches that remain competitive right up to the final whistle. Fast-paced and high- frequency, eBasketball brings the same excitement of the regular basketball calendars all year round – even surpassing the real-life action by consistently promoting the biggest club match-ups and star
