eligion has been a way to address the uncertainties of the natural world and life throughout history. While
the definition of religion has evolved, so have religious beliefs and practices. Common among many religions are beliefs in or recognition of a realm or divine power beyond humanity—god(s), spirit(s), other deities—that attempt to help followers understand and personally relate to the causes, nature, and purpose of the universe and also to define personal meaning. For many people, religious and spiritual beliefs and practices provide guidance that emphasizes the importance of maintaining health.
