ASM Presents Smart Factory Solutions for Eight Central Workflows

By Eric Zhao, Senior Manager Regional Marketing, Greater China, ASM A

t NEPCON China 2018, ASM is inviting visitors to “Check in to the Smart Factory,” and will present its extensive portfolio of hardware, software and process sup- port products. The focus will be on eight central workflows in electronics production: planning, virtual produc- tion, process optimization, produc- tion, material management, prepara- tion, factory monitoring, and factory integration.

Use cases from members of the SMT Smart Network, a global compe- tency network of trailblazing electron- ics manufacturers, will be presented at the booth to further underline ASM’s smart factory capabilities and to offer visitors firsthand experience. Highlights at the booth include the new SIPLACE TX micron, suited for high-precision advanced packag- ing applications, the E by DEK and E by SIPLACE, ASM’s printing and placement solutions specifically designed for the mid-speed market, and a special line demo for various standard integrations, including the Hermes standard for M2M communi- cation, and IPC’s CFX standard for vertical integration between produc- tion line and superimposed systems. The ASM Command Center, the new DEK paste roll height monitor and the SIPLACE TX micron are only a few of the innovations ASM is show-

ing at NEPCON in Shanghai this year. But, the company is not only focusing on isolated production islands and nondescript performance values. The showcase is rather about present- ing smart ASM solutions in a natural way for electronics manufacturers. This is why the eight workflows play such a prominent role at the

setup assistant, the company can demonstrate how to keep track of all materials in storage and on the shop floor. A central control wall provides insight into how electronics manu- facturers can achieve a more trans- parent factory that can be monitored and controlled remotely.

Putting these workflow tech- nologies into practice, the SMT Smart Network will illustrate how an ASM partnership pays dividends. The SMT Smart Network is a loose association of electronics manufac- turers from all over the globe, designed to share experiences and best practices for smart factory implantation. Among the partners are representatives from CIG, Topscomm, BYD, and ATH. The SMT Smart Network is open for other elec- tronics manufacturers who want to share their experience with peers. Across applications as diverse as automotive, LED lighting, indus- trial and power storage, and inte- grating different workflow systems that include preparation, virtual pro- duction and material management, customer videos show what workflow optimization can deliver in resource savings, reduced downtime and yield improvement.

Mid-Range Solutions

In addition to its high-end solu- tions, ASM is also showing its E by DEK printers and E by SIPLACE
