YEAR 7

Year 7 have had an excellent start to the year. Pupils have been involved in a number of fantastic activities and have really immersed themselves into the culture of the school. I continue to be amazed by the talent, enthusiasm and resilience that our pupils display.

YEAR 7’S GOT TALENT It has been amazing to see the plethora of talent that the students in year 7 have displayed thus far. Our audition process allowed a number of pupils to perform in front of the year group and a panel of judges. Students entertained and enthralled their peers with singing, dancing, football tricks, joke telling to name a few. I was really impressed by the quality of what we saw with some pupils’ performances encouraging the rest of the year group to applaud with absolute vigour. Please see the picture below with the finalists.

Daisy Thurman - The first week was quite scary and then each week it got better once I met new friends and got to know my teachers.

Miss Cummings – Form tutor: It has been an absolute pleasure to be 7.1’s tutor. Term 1 has shown me how resilient, ambitious and friendly that each person in this tutor group is and I look forward to the rest of the year. Great work guys!!!

7.2

Evie Hale - I have enjoyed my first two terms here and have made many new friends.

C-J Button - I have really enjoyed new subjects that I have been able to study at Matravers such as Dance, drama and Art.

Ashleigh Cockram - Over the first two terms I have made lots of new friends and have had a good laugh with them all, of course I have been working hard too!

Mr Lord – Form tutor:

7.2 have been an absolute pleasure to work with and it has been wonderful seeing them progress and grow as both people and students over these first two terms!

STUDENT AND PUPIL COMMENTS 7.1

Callum Ball - My first term at Matravers was a little scary to begin with but after getting to know all the teachers and students it got a lot easier and I am really enjoying it.

Kacey Styles - It was quite scary at the start but now I feel confident.

Skye Greatwood - I have made lots of new friends who have made me very happy and all the help from the teachers have made me feel confident.

Amy Wheeler - All the teachers have been so great and there is a great sense of community in the school.

Courtneigh Meadows - The highlight of my time at Matravers so far has been the way the teachers and students have been so welcoming and kind (especially Mr Price). Also, the wide range of after school clubs to enjoy. I took part in Kick start Dance, trampolining, Fitness Suite and Choir.

Lyla Hawes - The thing I like most about school is how we are all like one big family.

Kiera Vercoe - I am really enjoying school because at Matravers there are lots of subjects to aspire in and there are really fun opportunities like doing Christmas Concerts and joining in clubs. Staff are another reason why I enjoy school because they are all really helpful, cheerful and will always strive to get the best out of students and always try to make lessons fun.

Elsbeth Paton - The school helps me because I have improved my subjects such as maths, English and science. I have improved on this by getting more answers right and understanding more.
