Year 7 (continued)

Mr Price – Form tutor: In these two terms it has been a pleasure to see and help 7.3 grow from scared little primary school kids into integral, worthy and valuable members of the school. We in 7.3 pride ourselves on our closeness as a group and the ethos of ‘Team 7.3’. We help each other, support each other and consider the feelings of others in the way we behave.

7.4

Benjamin Gates – I have enjoyed going to Learning Support.

Carrick Goodall – I have made lots of new friends!

Brendan Webb – I enjoyed English, especially when we got to create our own mythical creature! Harmony Curtis – I have really loved Drama!

Miss Stafford – Form tutor: 7.4 have settled in really well, it’s great to see how much they have developed and become more confident over these first two terms. They’re adapting to Matravers life really well and should be proud of themselves because I certainly am! I’ve really enjoyed seeing friendships develop and students supporting each other academically and emotionally. Their enthusiasm is great and they are becoming more resilient as time progresses. Well done 7.4!

7.5 Lewis Clark – Trying to find out where I fit in and trying not to be late for class. When I first started, I felt like everyone was trying to help me with this. I am happy to be at Matravers.

Grace O’Connor – I have really enjoyed being in the sporting events at our school. The teachers are all really nice. I enjoy being at Matravers and am looking forward to the next term.

Jayah Dowling - My Helicopter experience! On this exciting day, I was one of many students who were chosen to investigate the humungous aircraft, we all thought that this opportunity was amazing! We got to go inside the helicopter and discover all of the things that the army men had to do as their job. Inside there were thousands of buttons and each had a very important role, that was when I found out what all of them did, some turned on the lights, some worked the engine and some turned the propellers. I even had a go with the control stick which controlled the helicopter and the pedals steered it.

Mrs. Wallbridge – The first term as tutor for 7.5 has been really enjoyable. It has been amazing getting to know all the wonderful members of our tutor group. I am looking forward to seeing them grow and learn over their time here at Matravers.

Mr Anderson – Project Teacher Year 7: I am incredibly proud and honoured to be the Progress Leader for year 7. I am constantly impressed by the good manners and friendliness displayed by my year group. There is never a day that a year 7 student passes me without saying “good morning”. During our assemblies, Mrs Thorne, our pastoral manager, leads a section where we see which students have been nominated for being a good friend by another pupil and each week the number of nominees grows; this really encourages me to see just how heart-warmingly sincere our pupils, your children are.

CHRISTMAS TREE DECORATION

This year, our pupils have been involved in the annual Christmas Tree Festival at All Saints Church. A number of pupils joined me at the church during the festive season to decorate a tree as part of the festivities. Students used bought and home made decorations to furnish the tree. These included chirstmas tree shaped biscuits, colourful chained paper, glassy infused biscuits and many more.

Many thanks to our decorators Alfie Lee, Adam Marshall, Courtney Meadows. Front row: Guoguo Zhang-Claydon and Chiara Helsby. We shall cross our fingers in anticipation as to whether or not we will win!
