PE (continued)

was fair but also enjoyable for all the players and supporters. Four officials were appointed team leader, continuing the standard set by last year’s tournament officials; Megan Redstall, Paige Adams, Dan Jones and Zach Pearce. Our other officials included Ben Godden, Millie Hudson, Joe Sanders, Joe Morse, Jake Dudley, Chloe Kinder and Charlie Player.

Four teams represented Matravers this year, KS3 girls, KS3 boys, KS4 boys and the KS3 girls; trying to defend their title won in 2016. The KS3 girls and boys teams saw a number of year 8 students returning

to the competition following their first experience last year. Both teams battled tirelessly and demonstrated great resilience throughout the day. The KS4 teams drew on their skill level and experience from the start, with outstanding performances. The KS4 boys’ team battled hard throughout the day winning one match outright, but narrowly losing in some closely fought battles. The KS4 girls’ team were fantastic and only lost two games out of a possible 25, therefore they reclaimed their title for the fourth year in a row! They now move on to the County finals in January.

The squad members representing the school were: KS3 Girls – Lauren O’Connor, Lily Sperring, Ellie Johnson and Jodie Gunning. KS3 Boys – Todd Pearce, James Higginson, Alfie Murden and Casper Morris. KS4 Girls – Tiffany Crockford-Ward, Ella Pearce, Millie Wells and Katie Blaxall. KS4 Boys – Callum Withers, Toby Ireland, Max Dowler and Oliver Seviour.

It was a pleasure to see so many of our students representing the school and leading the tournament as officials.
