YEAR 9
Year 9 have made an impressive start to the year – there have been many opportunities to celebrate success and to dish out well deserved praise. Many students in the year group have made a real effort to get fully engaged with life at Matravers both in and out of the classroom. Our CCF is bursting at the seams with Year 9 students – several who are now taking on promotions. Afterschool clubs are also frequented by Class 2022 students with many joining sports teams as well as chess club and business and enterprise group amongst others. It is an absolute pleasure to be regularly stopped in the corridor and emailed with moments of greatness by teaching staff – I look forward to sharing these “special mentions” each week in assembly. The results of our recent exam week demonstrate the results of determination and hard work. The Class of 2022 continue to lead the way with excellent attendance and punctuality and behaviour in lessons shows a willingness to learn and make progress.
Year 9 is the year when students begin to feel the pressure and where each student has important decisions to make regarding their choices for GCSE options. I know the students will continue to work hard and show what they are truly capable of.
Enjoy the holidays – rest, relax and recharge and I’ll see you all in the New Year.

SUMMER CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY As is now tradition at Matravers we close each term with a celebration assembly – the perfect opportunity to go to town in terms of celebrating all of the brilliant things which are being achieved. The celebration assembly to bring Year 8 to a close featured student performances, Karaoke and a spectacular performance from our very own “One Detention.” Alongside this there were awards from subject areas, for excellent attendance, for perfect behaviour, for the most prolific achievement point collectors and for students making excellent academic progress. You can see a little snippet of the fun and games in the included

As I write we are beginning preparations for the Christmas assembly and have no doubt this one will also be jam packed with rewards, celebrations, fun and our ever popular tutor games!
YEAR 9 – BEAUTY AND THE BEAST I had the absolute pleasure of watching this year’s Matravers School Production of Beauty and the Beast. There were a huge number of the year group involved once again this year both on and off the stage. They have all work tremendously hard and showed a huge amount of commitment through the gruelling rehearsal process. The hard work definitely paid off – a truly brilliant show and in my opinion (though I may be a little biased!) the Year 9 students stole the show!
Congratulations to all the students and staff involved but I am especially proud of Year 9.
