If you have any concerns about your child’s career path and aspirations (or lack of!) then please do let me know and I can make an appointment with a careers advisor for them.

There will also be a reward trip for the top 5 pupils in each tutor group, 100% attendance and pupils making good progress. Pictures of all these trips will be in the next newsletter.

BEHAVIOUR AND ATTENDANCE Each week in assembly I show the pupils the incident reports, achievement points and attendance per tutor group for the previous week and accumulatively since September.

Incident reports I have been pleased with the low number of incident reports pupils have received. My main concern is that consistently each week the most amount of incident reports have been for not completing homework. It is vital that pupils complete all homework set. Homework is set to allow teachers to check pupil’s understanding and to consolidate their learning- if this is not being completed then there could be gaps in their knowledge and areas of weakness that we are not aware of. All homework is set on ‘Class Charts’ where the tasks and resources can be found. Parents also have access to this so that you can be supporting and checking your child is completing their homework.

Achievement points The amount of achievement points awarded to the year group since September is astounding, in many cases nearly doubling the amount they received this time last year!.

Below (figure 1)is an example the number of achievement reports for each tutor group in week 12. It is great to see such a large red band, which is the number of resilient achievement points. This core value is going to be crucial for the pupils to develop in year 11.

There will be a reward trip later in the term for the tutor group with the most amount of achievement points. Figure 2 below shows how there is a small gap between most of the tutor groups but currently 11.1 are just in the lead. Pupils will have the opportunity to go bowling and have food with their peers.

Attendance It is vital that all pupils attend school every day. Pupils are reminded by me and their tutors about how crucial their attendance is. School days missed will lead to gaps in their knowledge which will affect their progress.

Please ensure that if your child is absent they proactively speak to the subject teachers about the lesson content they have missed and catch up on any work, including homework.

Pupils attendance should be written in their planner each week so please see your child’s planner for more information.
