DANCE AMY FOSKETT DANCE COMPANY PERFORMANCE
Matravers Dance Department were delighted to be invited to work on a piece with ex-student and Laban alumni choreographer Amy Foskett. A hugely talented choreographer, Amy was looking for students to perform a curtain raiser to her newest piece, to which Matravers Dance Department were thrilled to be a part of. Fifteen KS3 Dancers were chosen to take part in the project and who took part in two, two hour workshops learning choreography with Amy. This was such an amazing opportunity and one they were able to share during our annual open evening.
On Friday the 13th October, students were then ready to perform at Trowbridge Arts Centre to a packed audience. It was such a pleasure to watch such talented dancers from years 7, 8 and 9, with many performing for the first time for the school. All students performed beautifully and behaved like true professionals during the evening.

PRIMARY BOYS DANCE WORKSHOP
Monday 22nd of September saw Matravers Dance Department open its doors to thirty local primary school boys. As a part of our alliance with the West Wilts Dance Festival, Miss Richards ran a workshop aimed at encouraging boys into dance. With the success of our very popular Endurance Dance Company performance at last years festival, the theme of the workshop was space travel.
Thirty trainee astronauts learnt how to navigate through space, learning movement from Miss Richards and creating a performance piece. This amazing event was kindly supported by many of our year 8 endurance dancers who came to support the day and help Miss Richards to teach the movement from their choreography. The boys were a shining example of the huge talent and kind, respectful nature that all our endurance dancers hold and encourage from themselves and others.
