INCLUSION @ MATRAVERS

At the beginning of this academic year we pulled together several aspects of our provision under the banner of ‘Inclusion’. Our aim is for Inclusion to offer support and intervention for students to help them achieve and make progress in all aspects of their school life. What was known as ‘Learning Support’ and all of our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities provision falls within Inclusion, together with The Upgrade Centre and The Link provisions too.

Over the course of the year, these pages in the newsletter will offer a flavour of some of the things we do and celebrate the successes of those we work alongside.

Focus: ART THERAPY In Art Therapy we explore working in varied creative ways to

express ourselves, resolve issues, develop ways of managing our feelings and improve on our self-esteem. We use traditional and modern ways of working, such as painting, drawing, photography, Photoshop and sculpture. This gives us a chance to express our feelings and thoughts, reflecting on art as a process and the outcomes we have achieved. It builds our resilience and increases our awareness of self and others, it expands our cognitive abilities and helps us pursue the enjoyment of making art. See our amazing creations opposite.
