Many individuals are close to receiving further postcards celebrating their achievements as well as a few individuals very close to receiving the badge to identify their achievements with a postcard in all six areas of the School core Values.

Another area Year 8’s have excelled in is that of coaching and leading young individuals from our feeder Primary Schools. Our year 8’s led and coached individuals in Badminton and received outstanding feedback from Primary School Teachers and
Teaching Assistants. Special mentions went to our leaders helping out SEND pupils in which they were extremely patient and understanding of others needs and accommodated them exceptionally well. Todd Pearce, Casper Morris, Alfie Murden, Joe Hubbart and Daniel Jackson excelled in this environment and adjusted fantastically well throughout the coaching episodes.
with high degrees of success. A group of boys have also surpassed all previous expectations with a Dance group, producing some outstanding performances within school and further afield in displays, competitions and festivals. These boys include Sam Pym, Jack Gilroy, Camron Williams, Callum Sinden, Beau Ford, James Higginson, Sam Bush and Bobby Colborne and long may it continue.

The year group once again was a real credit to the school during the open evening that occurred earlier in the year. Not only did they help out departments as prospective parents toured the School in a mature and open manner but they also took independent tours around the School. Feedback from parents and guardians was outstanding and full of compliments for our students who spoke with confidence and maturity and a credit not only to the School but to themselves as well. Several other aspects in which Year 8 pupils have prospered include that within a sporting example with year 8 teams being represented in Rugby, Football, Basketball, Badminton and Netball

A bumper crop of individuals have signed themselves up to the Schools Cadet Force and proving to be an asset to the already existing and highly functioning Force we have at Matravers. Various field work exercises, archery, developing map reading skills and parades have all been practised so far this year and all the new recruits are willing and able to develop these existing skills, as well as new and awaiting skills yet to be demonstrated and developed throughout the year.
