Roof hanging off. It was a disastrous sight. The wreck was rusted and too damaged to even guess how long ago it had crashed.

The whole atmosphere of the place gave me a slight feeling of nausea and apprehension as I paced around the town. I needed to get out as soon as I could.

It felt like the sky and trees were closing in on me. It felt like I was in a dream but couldn’t get out. I knew it was real but forgot everything. My mind was destroying itself. it reminded me of when I had a little sister. I entered, pushing the memory to the back of my mind. It was a family house that had probably been a happy place but the family were long gone; probably dead after the war.

I went into the kitchen searching for food. Hunger drove me to search the empty cupboards. I soon gave up and went upstairs; into the child’s bedroom.

There were two small beds and one cot. I never took much in until I saw something lying in the cot…….
