Metcal Intros Hand Soldering Connection Validation

Cypress, CA — Metcal has introduced connection validation, its latest tech- nological innovation in hand solder- ing. Until now, the industry standard has been visual inspection of solder joints. With connection validation, built upon the company’s Smart - Heat™ technology, connection valida- tion evaluates the quality of a solder joint by calculating the intermetallic compound formation and providing closed-loop feedback to the operator, mitigating risk in the process. Metcal has also introduced a

new high thermal demand (HTD) upgrade kit for its line of higher-end power supplies. The high thermal demand product kit maximizes ther- mal efficiency by delivering more thermal energy to the solder joint in less time, enabling more soldering applications and increasing line throughput. The company is also offering its

recently-released solder wire feeder and Scarab site cleaning systems. The solder wire feeder pairs with the MX series of soldering and rework systems, speeding up the soldering process and

increasing line efficiency by placing more control and convenience in the hands of the operator. The Scarab enables accurate and repeatable clean- ing of the component pad in one con- tactless, user-friendly system. The sys- tem allows users to add site-cleaning capability to their operations without the investment of replacing their cur-

rent component rework systems. Contact: Metcal, 10800 Valley

Richardson, TX — Vi Technology is highlighting its PCB inspection sys- tems, namely its 5K3D 3D AOI sys- tem and PI series of 3D SPI systems. When connected by the company’s SIGMA Link, the machines form a complete 3D inspection solution. The new 5K3D is a fully-3D AOI

based on laser technology with angled cameras and supported by Vi’s 2K Spectro optical solution, which provides 2D or 3D images of components and identifies the best images to work with. The patented 3D AOI combination is designed to provide complete defect coverage with high-precision metrology. The company is also showcasing

its PI series of 3D SPI systems. With 360° moiré technology, the PI series offers an extra-large 3D image for review and outstanding accuracy. PI also programs automatically. For smart factories, SIGMA Link is an essential element to com-

bining all various inspection data and transforming them into valuable information for the user. The real-

BTU Intros Dual-Chamber Reflow System

North Billerica, MA — BTU Inter - national has introduced its PYRA- MAX™ ZeroTurn dual-chamber reflow system. The ZeroTurn is designed for high-volume electronics manufacturers who also manage process mix and are dissatisfied with the poor process separation of other dual-chamber machines. The true dual-chamber machine eliminates turnaround/waiting time when switch ing thermal profiles. The Zero - Turn exhibits excellent thermal isola- tion between chambers, allowing for precise process control and unaffect- ed thermal uniformity. The ZeroTurn allows customers
