The SG-BGA-7303 socket is designed for 18.2 x 9.7 mm (0.7 x 0.4 in.) BGA packages and oper- ates at bandwidths up to 36 GHz with less than 1 dB of insertion loss. The new sockets are capable of dissipating several watts with- out extra heat sinking and can handle up to 100W with a custom heat sink. The sockets have a typical

Murata Intros High Power Density DC-DC Converter

Smyrna, GA — Murata has intro- duced its MYMGK series of minia- ture “mono block” type, surface mount, point-of-load (PoL) DC-DC converters. The non-isolated mono block converters are available in two models, 6 and 20A. Both versions are available with two output voltage range options. Typical applications for these converters include power- ing the FPGAs and CPUs used in data, telecommunications, and net- working communications equipment, and in equipment using distributed bus architecture. Measuring 9.0 x 7.5 x 5.0

mm (0.35 x 0.3 x 0.2 in.), the 6A MYMGK1R806FRSR has a pro- grammable output voltage in the range of 0.7 to 1.8 VDC from a +5 VDC input. The MYMG - K00506ERSR also can deliver up to 6A output in the range of 0.7 to 5.0 VDC from a +12 VDC nominal input. The 20A model measures

10.5 x 9.0 x 5.6 mm (0.41 x 0.35 x 0.22 in.) and includes the MYMGK1R820FRSR, oper ating from a +5 VDC nominal input and the MYMGK1 R820ERSR, from a +12 VDC nominal. The output voltage can be pro- grammed in the range of 0.7 to 1.8 VDC. Control signals include

remote on/off and a power good indi- cation. Safety and protection fea- tures include under-input voltage lock out (UVLO), output short cir- cuit, and output over-current. These efficient ultra-compact

converters, typically providing be - tween 87.8 to 95 percent efficiency — model and load dependent — meet

the industrial and telecom require- ments for size, efficiency and power density, especially in the MYMGK series’ temperature-resistant operat- ing case. The use of increasingly com-

pute-intensive devices, such as pro- grammable logic, FPGAs and CPUs, demands highly reliable power sup- plies that can respond quickly to load variations, good transient response, and a low core voltage high-current supply. The MYMGK series is designed
