Elantas PDG: UL-Recognized Electrical Insulation Systems

St. Louis, MO —Elantas PDG (EPDG) offers over 200 UL-recognized electri- cal insulation systems. UL-recognized electrical insulation systems are an integral part of gaining UL recognition for many electrical components. The electrical insulation systems list is a list of insulating components that can be used to build a motor, transformer or coil. EPDG systems can be adopted by manufacturers of components at no charge. The insulation systems are

developed by the company at its in- house laboratory. All electrical sys- tem testing begins with a long-term thermal aging test. It is conducted in accordance with UL 1446 and takes 12-18 months to complete. The test- ing uses non-functional test speci- mens (motorettes), the basic building blocks of an electrical component, which incorporate a magnet wire, ground insulation and varnish. The components are subjected to oven exposure, vibration, cold shock, and humidity. Only the components that are tested are then UL-recognized. The components also undergo a

shorter-term chemical compatibility test (CCT). This test involves compo- nents in sealed tubes and takes about two weeks to complete. A reference

Apollo Seiko Intros Latest Robotic Soldering Systems

Bridgman, MI — Apollo Seiko has introduced its next-generation of robotic soldering systems, the J-CAT 3000 series. The series includes five product sizes with x and y ranges from 200 x 200 mm (7.9 x 7.9 in.) up to 510 x 620 mm (20 x 24.4 in.) and z axis ranges from 50 to 150 mm (2 x 5.9 in.), in order to accommodate var- ious board sizes. All systems are capable of 360° rotation. Increased structural rigidity

allows the soldering systems to achieve movement speeds of up to 900 mm/s (2.9 ft/s). The new series can handle a workpiece mass of up to 15 kg (33.1 lb) and a tool mass of up to 7 kg (15.4 lb). The systems come equipped with LAN Ethernet interfaces for PC and PLC operational control. In addition to the four-axis robot-

ic soldering control, the J-CAT 3000 series can include two external motors for workpiece rotation or movement,

allowing the system access to difficult areas, at odd angles.

EVS Solder Recovery Systems Reduce Waste Dross

Isle of Wight, UK — EVS Internat - ional has developed a lineup of solder recovery systems designed to reduce waste dross by up to 85 percent. The simple and rugged EVS 500LF is high- ly ISO14001-compatible as it complies with the ISO mantra of reduce, reuse, recycle. The system allows customers to reduce solder consumption by up to 50 percent. The EVS 500 can also help to reduce dedrossing time by 75 per- cent and waste dross offsite by up to 85 percent. The machine meshes well with environmental control systems and also helps to reduce customers’ carbon footprints by using the latent heat already imputed to the dross dur- ing the recovery process. The EVS 8KLFHS has a capaci-

ty of 6 kg (13.2 lb) and its integrated hopper makes rapid transfer of dross simple and safe, speeding dedrossing times by up to 75 percent. This pro- vides a cleaner wave with less main- tenance, less downtime and a reduc- tion in shorts and bridging, as well as the potential to discontinue the use of messy wave oils and dross reduc-

tion powders. Contact: EVS International,
