Page 77 Helukabel Develops Flexible Control Power Cable

Elgin, IL — Helukabel has released its latest cable product,

the

Traycontrol X, a flexible control power cable with cross-linked (ther- moset) polythylene (XLPE) insula- tion that conforms to NFPA 79-2012. The tray cables are suitable for

all machinery in tool and plant con- struction, and can be installed in dry, humid and damp environments, in pipes, underground, and for open, unprotected installation from the cable rack to industrial plant machinery. They are rated for 600V and WTTC (wind turbine tray con- trol) 1000V, allowing them to be used

XJTAG DFT Assistant Adopted by Cadence OrCAD

Cambridge, UK — Cadence has enhanced OrCAD® Capture to now include XJTAG® DFT Assistant, an easy-to-use interface that signifi- cantly increases the design for test (DFT) and debug capabilities of the schematic capture and PCB design system. XJTAG DFT Assistant allows users to detect and correct JTAG errors at the design stage before the PCB is produced, prevent- ing costly project delays. XJTAG DFT Assistant is com-

posed of two key elements: XJTAG Chain Checker and XJTAG Access Viewer. XJTAG Chain Checker iden- tifies common errors in a JTAG scan chain, such as incorrectly connected and terminated test access ports (TAPs), and reports them to the developer. Otherwise, a single con- nection error would inhibit the entire scan chain from working. XJTAG Access Viewer overlays the extent of boundary scan access onto the schematic diagram, allowing users to instantly see which components are accessible using boundary scan, and where test coverage can be further extended. Engineers can highlight the nets individually to show read, write, power/ground and the nets without any JTAG access on the schematic. PCBs have become increasingly

densely populated, and accessing pins under packages such as ball grid arrays (BGAs) has been virtually impossible. Boundary scan addresses this problem by providing electrical access to compliant integrated compo- nents on a PCB using a JTAG chain, but it is also imperative that any errors in the JTAG chain are correct- ed early. XJTAG DFT Assistant al - lows engineers to determine whether JTAG chains are correctly connected and terminated during schematic cap- ture, early in the design process. While the first prototype is being

manufactured, XJTAG DFT Assistant allows engineers to export a prelimi- nary XJTAG project from OrCAD Capture to the XJTAG development software, where additional tests can be developed. Hardware can then be

tested as soon as it is available. Contact: XJTAG, St. John’s

in 1 kV wind turbine cable tray appli- cations. The cables are CE-approved for machine builders exporting to Europe. The XLPE insulation is useful

for applications that require long cable runs due to its low capacitance.

A higher current load rating is possi- ble due to the conductor temperature resistance of 105°C (221°F). This enables a smaller cross-section to be used when designing electrical net- works in machines or systems. In addition to the reduced use of copper

and the resulting lower cost, the much smaller outer diameter offers advantages for installation in tight spaces due to an increase in the cable’s maximum bending radius. The Traycontrol X is currently

available in a size of 20 AWG with various conductor configurations. For customers working in facilities with high levels of electromagnetic interference, a shielded variant is

available. Contact: Helukabel USA, 1490
