Oakville, Ontario, Canada — Wieland Electric has added six new industrial press function control blocks to its samos®PRO COMPACT-PLUS family of programmable safety controllers, and integrated support for both EtherNet/IP and EtherCAT field- bus communication protocols. The expanded capa- bilities of the samosPRO COMPACT-PLUS mod- ules allow machine design engineers to seamlessly integrate peripheral devices into the automation network, and to relay control information back to these devices using one of several industrial com- munications protocols. The module now offers six control function

blocks to monitor press contacts, ensuring proper signal sequencing and timing during press opera- tion, and to control press operation during set up, single-stroke, auto- matic, and cyclic modes. With this expansion, the safety

controllers can deliver cost-effective, critical safety functions for both new and existing industrial press machin- ery, including eccentric and hydraulic presses, while still delivering all of the critical features of the samosPRO COMPACT. These include base units with up to 20 safe inputs and eight safe outputs, expandability up to 116 safe inputs and 56 safe outputs, inte- grated Ethernet ports, and free soft- ware for simulation and automatic report generation. The expansion of the controller’s communication capabilities enables

Kwik Mark Introduces Automatic Tag Master

Feeder/Marker McHenry, IL —Kwik Mark has intro- duced its Tag Master 3 feeder/mark- er system developed to eliminate the problematic tag feeding issues of escaping tags from the bottom of the magazine. The tags are transferred from the top to eliminate the jam- ming, scratching and other problems associated with the bottom feed “coin changer” type of escapements. This also does away with the issues of thickness tolerance and sharp edges. The system is available with the company’s Print Queue Driver,

business relationships are still hand made.
