Nuremberg, Germany — Now in its 15th year, Embedded World, to be held March 14-16, 2017, at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center in Nuremberg, Germany, is highlight- ing topics including the Internet of Things (IoT), security and safety. According to Benedikt Weyerer, the exhibition’s director, the show is expected to reach a total of 1,000 exhibitors for the first time. Over the years, Embedded World has evolved to become a central hub for the worldwide embedded community. The keynote speeches will be

given by Rick Clemmer, CEO of NXP, and Riccardo Mariani, Intel’s chief functional safety technologist. In addition, providing a link between theory and practice, special presen- tations on M2M, electronic displays, safety, and security will be held within the exhibition itself. In their respective keynotes,

entitled “Protecting the Internet of Things: From Clear and Present Danger to Robust Security” and “IoT: Functional Safety and Security for a World of Software-Defined Autono - mous Things,” Clemmer and Mariani

will explore the main focus areas of the conference. A total of 15 sessions over all three conference days are devoted to these two issues. Topics include future IoT development, soft- ware development, profiles and interfaces in the IoT, virtualization, trusted platform modules (TPM), hacking and attacking, security in the automotive and industrial sec- tors, and secure communication. Visitors to the conference can

also learn about system design and modeling, MISRA standards, open source software, and software quality standards. In the hardware engi- neering area, speakers will discuss topics including ARM and Cortex,

and in particular, energy-saving hardware, high-performance embed- ded architectures (HiPEAC), system- on-chip, and image processing. Five sessions will be devoted to

the area of embedded OS, highlight- ing obvious mistakes when choosing an embedded operating system and exploring the criteria for RTOS- based development. The wide range of topics covered

will be rounded off by a session on management, designed by the confer- ence’s board to appeal primarily to managers and team leaders and offer them support for their management and development tasks. The conference’s electronic dis-
