Day 8: Mamallapuram – Pondicherry Drive in the morning to Pondicherry, a former French colony nestled between lush vegetation and the Bay of Bengal. Your tour continues to Auroville and Auro Beach. Stay for 1 night at The Sunway GRT Grand. (B)
Day 9: Pondicherry – Tanjore Journey in the morning to Tanjore visiting en-route the temples of Chidambaram and Gagai Khonda Cholapuram. Stay 2 nights in the Sangam Hotel. (B)
Day 10 – Tanjore After breakfast spend the morning exploring Tanjore, home to the indigenous Tanjore painting style. Your afternoon will include a visit to Trichy and the Art Village to see artisans working on famous bronze sculptures. (B)
Day 11: Tanjore – Madurai Drive in the morning to Madurai (approx 4 hours). You have the opportunity in the evening to participate in the famous ‘going to bed’ ceremony at the magnificent Meenakshi Sundareswar Temple. Stay for 1 night at the Sangam Hotel. (B)
Day 12: Madurai – Thekkady Visit the Flower Market of Madurai followed by a tour of the city including the iconic Meenakshi Temple. Visit Thirumalai Nayak Palace built circa the 1620s. Overnight stay at the Greenwood Hotel. (B)
Day 13: Thekkady – Alleppey Visit Thekkady Spice Plantation, paramount for any visit as a chance to gain insight into the basis of Indian cooking. In the afternoon drive (approx 4 hours) to Alleppey. Stay at the Lemon Tree Vembanad for 2 nights. (B)
Day 14: Kumarakom Enjoy an authentic, interactive cooking class, learning southern India’s favourite dishes. Afternoon will be at leisure. (B)
