Set before the mesmerizing backdrop of some of the most breathtaking landscapes in South East Asia, Vietnam’s rich and diverse cultural heritage reflects a rare complexity of styles. A most compelling of destinations, its recent colonial history and colourful local traditions rub shoulders with a past filled with ancient glory, reflecting the long, and at times painful, development of one of the continent’s most fascinating cultures.
Day 1: London – Bangkok – Hanoi Fly overnight from Heathrow to Hanoi via Bangkok with Thai Airways.
Day 2: Hanoi Arrival You will be transferred to Sunway Hotel for 2 nights. Welcome to the tree-lined streets of Hanoi with its iconic French colonial architecture and its network of markets presenting myriad tastes and smells of Vietnam. Take a cyclo tour, through the Old Quarter. Also visit the Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple.
Day 3: Hanoi – Halong Bay Visit the monumental House of Ho Chi Minh including the mausoleum. Depart Hanoi for Halong Bay (considered Vietnam’s eighth wonder of the world). Upon arrival at Halong
Bay enjoy a peaceful afternoon cruise on-board a traditional junk boat, stopping at some of the grottoes and caves on the islands to explore on foot. Seafood set lunch will be served on-board. Disembark the boat in the afternoon then transfer by road to Hanoi. The remainder of the evening is at leisure. (B/L)
Day 4: Hanoi – Danang – Hoi An Morning is spent at leisure in Hanoi, then fly to Danang where you will be met by your new central Vietnam guide. Stay 2 nights at Hoi An Hotel.
