Day 4: Hama – Aleppo Travel from Hama through fine pastureland and small encampments of the Bedouin Arabs to see the Acropolis of Apamea – commandingly positioned in the Valley of Orontes, an area populated since Hittite times. A former military base for the fascinating Seleucid Kings, it was rebuilt during Roman inhabitance providing an enticing visual spectacle with a monumental history. Continue to the ancient city of Ebla, one of the most important archaeological discoveries in Syria. You will also have the opportunity to view the Monastery of St Symeon, the jewel of the Syrian Greek Orthodox Church. Arrive in Aleppo and stay 2 nights at the Belt Marrash. (B)


Day 5: Aleppo Enjoy sightseeing through one of Syria’s great trading cities, a bustling enclave of covered souks and khans which has thrived since the 3rd Century BC and is dominated by its magnificent citadel with its Mosque of Abraham and the ornate elegance of the Umayyad Mosque. (B)


Day 6: Aleppo – Palmyra Transfer from Aleppo to Palmyra and check in for 2 nights at the Zenobia Cham Palace Hotel. (B)


Day 7: Palmyra Spend the day exploring spectacular Palmyra, often described as ‘the Bride of the Desert’. Certainly one of the most impressive and well preserved of all of Arabia’s ancient cities. Wander through its magnificent ruins, such as the Temple of Bel, in the glow of early morning, enjoying the peace and tranquillity of this utterly unique setting. Also, spend time at the famous theatre and Palmyra Museum. In the evening experience life amongst a fascinating desert dwelling Bedouin family. (B)

Day 8: Palmyra – Damascus Travel by road to Damascus for the final day of your trip. Free time in the evening to relax in this exquisite city’s many restaurants or Shisha bars. Overnight at the Omayad Hotel. (B)
