Day 5: Arenal Enjoy a river safari on the Penas Blancas River. Surrounded by rainforest, you paddle down the river on an inflatable boat where you will see riverbanks and trees rich in wildlife and home to monkeys, iguanas, sloths, crocodiles and many species of bird. After lunch at a local restaurant enjoy a walking tour of the Arenal Hanging Bridges. Set in 250 hectares of primary forest, there are 15 bridges from 5-100m long covering a 3km circuit from which to enjoy the forest. (B/L)


Day 6: Arenal – San Ramon, Villa Blanca Cloud Forest Say goodbye to spectacular Arenal and head for the Villa Blanca Cloud Forest (approx 1 hour 30 min). The San Ramon area is a small mountainous area in the heart of Costa Rica with plenty of wildlife and cloud forests such as Los Angeles and


Piedades Norte. Bird lovers will find rare quetzals, hummingbirds, trogons and motmots; while monkeys, coatis, deer and sloths may also be seen. In the afternoon take the El Silencio de Los Angeles 3km walking trail to see a variety of tropical flora and fauna along the self guided trails. Only 2.5% of the world’s cloud forest remain, making this habitat an absolute necessity. Overnight at Villa Blanca Cloud Forest Hotel. (B/D)


Day 7: Villa Blanca Cloud Forest – San Jose Depart for San Jose, stopping en route at the remarkable La Paz Waterfall Gardens – a unique area where cloud and rain forest co-exist, and also home to the largest butterfly observatory in the world (approx 2 hours plus stop at the waterfall) – and for lunch at a local restaurant. Overnight at the Corteza Amarilla Hotel. (B/L)


Day 8 San Jose – London Transfer to San Jose airport for return flight home via the US with Continental Airlines. (B)
