The incredible diversity of Tanzania’s landscape spans from the immense plains of the Serengeti and the game rich Ngorongoro crater, to the untamed and remote beauty of Great Rift Valley and Lake Manyara, where the stomping migration roam alongside spectacular mountain vistas. This is a country of supreme grandeur.
Day 1: London – Kilimanjaro Depart in the morning from Heathrow by KLM via Amsterdam to Kilamanjaro. Transfer on arrival to Arusha for an overnight stay at the Snow Crest Hotel.
Day 2: Arusha – Ngorongoro After breakfast begin your drive to Ngorongoro conservation area, stopping on the way to visit a local school in the Karatu area where you will have the rewarding opportunity to work and play with children from one of the poorest countries in the world. After lunch enjoy the beguiling views of the Ngorongoro Crater World Heritage Site – the world’s largest intact Caldera spanning some 8,300sq km, considered by many to be the cradle of humanity, as well as the stomping ground for around 25,000 wild animals at any one time.
Check in for 2 nights at the Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge. (B/L/D)
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater Today you’ll descend the 600m into the crater by 4x4 for a full day safari, the most densely-packed concentration of wildlife in Africa. You may see wildebeests, elephants, lions, zebras and hyenas to name a few, as well as being one of the most likely areas in the country to be able to witness the endangered black rhino. Whilst on the lakeside there are also pelicans, ibis and flamingo (B/L/D).
Day 4: Olduvai Gorge – Serengeti National Park In the morning visit Olduvai Gorge, commonly referred to as ‘The Cradle of Mankind’ where Professor Louis Leakey discovered some of the earliest evidence of human existence. Continue to the Serengeti National
