Day 5: Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu Today experience one of South America’s iconic treasures – Machu Picchu. Transfer by rail in the Vistadome train, which provides panoramic views of the astounding Peruvian mountains, then by road to the citadel located at the top of the mountain, appreciating some of the finest prehistoric architecture in the world. Overnight at the El Mapi Hotel. (B/L)
Day 6: Machu Picchu – Cusco Spend the morning at leisure or you have the option to hike to Wayna Picchu (Young Peak). Return to Cusco by Vistadome train and transfer to the Eco Inn for 3 nights. (B)
Day 7: Cusco Begin your morning with a walking tour of Cusco City – bursting with contrasting archaeological styles of the indigenous people and the influence of the modern West. Begin in the epicentre Plaza de Armas, onto San Blas and finishing at the Temple of the Sun. Spend the afternoon at a local family house and share a typical
homemade lunch from traditional Andean recipes. (B/L)
Day 8: Cusco At leisure, where you have the opportunity to further explore this fascinating city, the historical capital of the Inca Empire. Alternatively there is an optional half day horse-back riding excursion that will take you through unspoiled Andean villages, and Inca vestiges. Take in breathtaking views over the picturesque city of Cusco finishing at the ceremonial site of the Temple of the Moon. (B)
Day 9: Cusco – Lima – London In the morning fly to Lima and check in to your day room, then depart Lima in the evening on your overnight Iberia Airlines flight to London via Madrid. (B)
