We can offer you a special Travel Insurance Scheme (for UK residents only) arranged through Preferential Insurance Services Limited and underwritten by White Horse Insurance Ireland Limited.


Preferential Insurance Services Limited is regulated and authorised by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). White Horse Insurance Ireland Limited is authorised and regulated by the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority (IFSRA). Bales Worldwide Limited t/as Virgin Holidays Worldwide Journeys is an Appointed representative of Preferential Insurance Services Limited for the sole purpose of Travel Insurance policies. You and all passengers travelling with you on a holiday featured in this brochure will be insured on payment of the insurance premium, providing you select our insurance when making your reservation. Full details of the terms, exceptions and conditions can be obtained from Bales Worldwide Limited t/as Virgin Holidays Worldwide Journeys. Please note, you will be required to provide material facts regarding your health when purchasing our insurance, which relates to you and anyone upon whose health the trip may depend. We can offer either a Single Trip or an Annual Multi-Trip policy (premiums valid to 01 March 2011). The details of our travel insurance are correct at time of going to press. Should any details change, you will be notified of any changes at the time of policy purchase.

Clients aged 75 to 84 at the date of travel are rated at a higher premium please ask for details. Please note however that if you are aged 75 to 84 cover is limited to single trips under 31 days and to certain areas only (UK and Europe). This policy is not available if you are aged 85 years or over at the time of travel. All premiums are inclusive of Insurance Premium Tax. On 4th January 2011 IPT will increase from 17.50% to 20%. As a result all premiums will vary.


Annual Multi-Trip Insurance


The Annual Multi-Trip insurance we offer is excellent value for money and starts from as low as £77.87 (exact prices available on request). It covers most overseas holidays that you take within 1 year of the start of your insurance within the geographic area you select, subject to the policy wording. This policy is not available if you are aged 76 years or over on the date you buy the policy.


Summary of Cover Provided


1. Cancellation/curtailment: Limited to £3,500 per person.


The following amount will be deducted from each and every claim for each insured person - £50. (£25 Loss of deposit only)


(Note: If your holiday price exceeds £3,500, additional cover is available on request at the time of booking).


2. Travel delay:


(a) £20 for the first full 12 hours’ delay, £20 each full 12 hours’ delay thereafter, up to a maximum payment of £100;


(b) abandonment after the first full 12 hours delay up to the amount under the Cancellation section. The following amount will be deducted from each and every claim for each insured person - £50.


3. Missed departure: Up to £1000. The following amount will be deducted from each and every claim for each insured person - £50.


4. Personal accident: Death - up to £10,000; Permanent total disablement up to £25,000.


5. Medical and other expenses & medical emergency assistance: Up to £5,000,000 and emergency dental expenses up to £300. The following amount will be deducted from each and every claim for each insured person - £75. (£50 for emergency dental treatment). The services of a 24 Hours medical assistance company are included.


6. Hospital benefit: £15 per day whilst as an in-patient in hospital abroad. Up to a maximum of £750.


7. Baggage and Personal Effects (hired, loaned, or entrusted property is not covered): Up to £1,500 to include - single articles limit of £250; valuables, e.g. jewellery, watches, furs and photographic equipment limited to £250 in all. The following amount will be deducted from each and every claim for each insured person - £50.


8. Delayed baggage: £75 per 12 hours up to a maximum of £225.


9. Personal money: Up to £500 (limited to £250 for cash losses). The following amount will be deducted from each and every claim for each insured person -£50.


10. Loss of travel documents: Up to £250.


11. Personal public liability: Up to £2,000,000. The following amount will be deducted from each and every claim for each insured person relating to property damage- £250.


12. Petcare : £25 per day, to a maximum of £250. 13. Domestic assistance: Up to £250. 14. Legal expenses: Up to £25,000.


Period of cover and exceptions: Operates during the holiday period for sections 2 to 14. Cover under Section 1 comes into force as soon as the booking is accepted. Winter sports cover is available at an additional cost.


Medical Health Requirements


This insurance policy is designed to cover you for unforeseen illnesses and accidents occurring during the period of insurance. At the time of buying or renewing your policy, if you or any of your travelling companions have been admitted as a hospital in-patient in the past twenty four months or have suffered from or received any form of medical advice, treatment or medication for a:


1) Heart or Circulatory related condition (e.g. Hypertension, angina, stroke etc.)


2) Lung or Breathing related condition other than well controlled, mild Asthma, suffered in isolation 3) Cancerous Condition 4) Kidney Related Disorder


5) Psychological Condition (including anxiety, stress, depression, psychiatric or eating disorders)


Then you must contact Medical Screening Helpdesk in order to arrange cover for the condition. Failure to advise Health Check of a pre-existing medical condition will result in claims for those undisclosed conditions not being paid.

EXCLUSIONS RELATING TO YOU, YOUR TRAVEL COMPANIONS OR ANYONE ELSE UPON WHOM YOUR TRAVEL PLANS DEPEND.


Please note that there is no cover for any claims arising directly or indirectly if, at the time of effecting the insurance, you, your travelling companions or anyone else upon whom your travel plans depend:


i) is travelling or acting against the advice of a medical practitioner


ii) is travelling for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment


iii) is on a hospital waiting list


iv) is awaiting the results of medical tests or investigations v) is receiving ongoing dialysis treatment vi) has been given a terminal prognosis


Cover is also excluded for non-travellers who are receiving advice, treatment or medication for a heart or circulatory related condition, a lung or breathing related condition other than well controlled mild asthma suffered in isolation, a cancerous condition or a kidney related disorder.

It is important to remember that the above details are only a summary of your cover available. A full policy document will be sent with your confirmation of booking (provided that the insurance premium has been paid). This document will detail full terms, conditions and exclusions. You should read it carefully.


“Cooling Off Period” for Insurance


Your policy contains a “cooling off period”. If you are not happy with your policy, you may return it to us within fourteen days of receipt with a written request to cancel the insurance. Provided that there has not been, and will not be, a claim made or travel undertaken, a full refund will be made.
