Franchise Focus Brewing up a storm

As a leading brand in the UK’s multi-billion-pound coffee industry, Esquires Coffee is a fantastic investment

INVESTMENT LEVEL: £100,000 E

squires Coff ee isn’t just another soulless high-street coff ee chain; its stores are the hub of the community in which they are owned and operated

by local businesspeople who have a vested interest in the success of their business. Esquires Coff ee’s core principles are focused around serving exceptional Fairtrade and organic coff ee with premier customer service in aspirational yet comfortable store environments. What makes Esquires Coff ee diff erent to the other coff ee chains that dominate the UK high street is the brand’s commitment to providing a product, service and setting that is second to none. Esquires is all about creating a unique customer experience that keeps the customer coming back for more. Esquires’ stores are designed to fi t the needs of the modern-day coff ee drinker, with communal tables for groups, smaller tables for dates and business meetings, comfy booth seating, USB ports for charging laptops and smartphones, daily newspapers, and relaxing background music.

The last decade has witnessed a boom in the coff ee industry. The UK coff ee market had a turnover of £8.9billion in 2016, with outlet growth of six per cent. The branded coff ee market turnover was £3.7billion, up 11 per cent from 2015, with outlet growth up seven per cent. For this reason, the café business has become one of the fastest-growing sectors in food franchising. The coff ee industry is set to see the continued rise of branded chains and artisan coff ee over the next decade, with the savvy and connected millennial customer at the focus of every brand. Esquires is taking heed with these

trends through introducing a mobile app loyalty scheme, brunch options – including favourites such as avocado on toast and eggs benedict – and innovative drinks such as vegan cucumber and mint matcha frappés. Its stores are designed with the local community in mind, with wall art refl ecting the town’s heritage, community notice boards, and plenty of comfortable seating for families, friends, students and businesspeople. Esquires Coff ee is 100 per cent organic and Fairtrade certifi ed; it uses a blend of

Arabica beans sourced from Fairtrade cooperatives in Ethiopia, Peru, Honduras and Indonesia. Esquires baristas are all enrolled on the company’s ‘3 Bean Barista’ training programme, where they learn everything from the process the coff ee takes from bean to cup and how to steam milk properly for each of the diff erent drinks, to how to create latte art and the ability to teach new staff members to make coff ee. Esquires’ commitment to quality coff ee, bespoke store design and well- trained, knowledgeable baristas is key to the brand’s success. As an Esquires Coff ee franchise owner you’ll be part of a brand that focuses on looking, thinking and acting like an independent coff ee shop, while also being able to benefi t from the buying power and customer loyalty of a chain. Esquires Coff ee provides a bespoke solution for every franchise owner’s needs, including full training, assistance with site selection and procurement, store design, lease negotiation and marketing,

as well as consistent ongoing support. Esquires is looking for franchise partners who have strong business acumen, are self-driven and are goal orientated. Franchise partners should have strong roots in the community in which they operate and are passionate about coff ee and off ering great service. Investment in the franchise is between £200,000 and £265,000, dependent on the size and location. Finance lenders will typically lend 50 to 70 per cent of the cost of the total investment. The franchise fee for single sites is £22,500, whereas multi-store investors will pay £12,500 for following sites.
