Inside Story developing the brand value
• Ongoing training is encouraged to ensure that anyone engaging with children is trained to a high standard
• The business model has been developed to be suited to an owner-operator model, with the role of the franchisee being the business manager
• The franchise fee and other start-up costs are low
• High earning potential and a great return on investment.
Do you need previous experience? No. If you don’t have childcare or playwork qualifi cations or experience you can employ someone that does. We will train you and show you how to run your club (or clubs!). Personnel management skills, organisational skills and good communication skills are essential.
What support do franchisees receive? We don’t just get you up and running and then leave you to it. Our success is dependent upon your success on an ongoing basis and so we will be there to continue to provide you with help and support. The fi rst 12 months of any business’s development are crucial, and our comprehensive franchise support means that we will be holding your hand every step of the way. We do this by the provision of a bespoke package of pre- start and post-start services, including start-up support, a start-up package of materials and equipment, a comprehensive induction training programme, and ongoing operational support. This includes: • Annual business review and revision of the business plan
• Ongoing service development to ensure that our clubs always remain in line with current trends, practices, childcare legislation and best practice, such as support with daily activities planning and Ofsted preparation
• Ongoing marketing advice to maximise the return and minimise the cost
• Website development and maintenance for both the central site and your local sites
• Social media management and support • Problem solving as required • Opportunities to network with other franchisees at franchisee meetings, conferences, online webinars and in chatrooms.
Is there room for more franchisees? There are over 24,000 primary schools in the UK, and, currently, after-school childcare is only provided by just over half of schools, with only around 29 per cent of schools off ering a holiday club provision.
This means there is a tremendous opportunity for Kids Collective franchisees. Each Kids Collective franchisee is off ered a geographic area with a number of local primary schools. Franchisees are encouraged to expand and purchase more areas to develop a group of their own.
What sort of person do you think would suit a Kids Collective franchise? This opportunity would suit someone who is: • Passionate about the business • Are committed to providing great- quality childcare
• A strong believer in customer service • A motivator and people person • A team leader and team player • A good listener • A good communicator • Professional and well organised • Hungry for success • And resourceful.
What advice would you give to someone buying their fi rst franchise? You will be totally responsible for how much you earn and the lifestyle you lead, but you will need to be committed and organised in managing your time. There are considerable advantages to self-employment and running your own business: making your own decisions and experiencing the fulfi lment and satisfaction of reaping the rewards of your eff orts. Ensure you are properly resourced, with the funds and the time to commit to building your own business. We have done this, we know what you are facing, and it takes a strong, courageous person to start
a business and make a success of it. There will be many challenges along the way, but by becoming a franchisee you have a business partner to share those problems with, which massively increases your chance of success. A new business is very time consuming, especially at the start, but the rewards and job satisfaction are worth the eff ort and commitment. Ensure you research your potential franchisor thoroughly; have they run a successful business and for how long? Will they be committed to you and your success? Go and visit them, meet their team, and ensure they are what you expect. Make sure you will be comfortable working with them. Ask about their fi nancial success – you must minimise your risk by ensuring they are off ering a proven business model that you can replicate.
What are your plans for the future? Kids Collective already has a group of locally owned clubs. It is now totally focused on growth nationally via the franchise route – now is the time to become part of the franchise family.
