emilyprice@thebfa.org Web:
www.thebfa.org Established: 1977
Established in 1977, the bfa’s aim is to promote ethical franchising practice and to help potential franchisees recognise the good franchises and the not-so-good. The bfa has a standards-based approach and franchisors wishing to become members must meet specific criteria to establish that their franchise represents a fair and ethical opportunity. The association is renowned worldwide for its franchising standards: it was a founder member of the World Franchise Council, admitted franchisees as members from 2012 and takes part in discussions at an EU level. In February 2016, the bfa announced the appointment of Pip Wilkins, former head of operations, as its CEO. Pip took up her new role on 6 April, succeeding Brian Smart who is retiring after 27 years.
