Dyfed Powys – Probationer Pay Alignment Introduction
In June 2024, the Joint Negotiating and Consultative Committee (JNCC) aligned probationer pay scales with national regulations to address discrepancies caused by local decisions on degree programme commencement dates.
Description
Disparities in pay arose after the removal of Pay Point 0 in September 2023, disproportionately affecting some intakes. Federation representatives provided evidence showing how different cohorts were unfairly impacted.
Resolution
Following the Federation’s submission, the Force Payroll team agreed to adjust the pay scales for the affected intakes and backdate pay accordingly.
BACK TO NATIONAL VIEW Wales/Cymru Outcome
Seventy-seven probationer officers benefited from the adjustment, advancing one pay point and receiving back pay. Future recruits will follow a transparent pay structure aligned with national regulations.
