The NCO (National Chair and Deputy National Chair) work in unison with the NSO and CEO offices to ensure the aims, objectives and PFEW strategy are delivered through effectively communicating and influencing internal and external stakeholders, including media, politicians, members, government, public and police bodies.

Advocacy and political influence – Collaboration with the Parliamentary Business Area


The NCO is the co-lead for the PFEW Parliamentary business area.


The NCO promotes PFEW campaigns with politicians, media and police bodies. This includes campaigns focussed on: Medal for Heroes – formal state recognition for officers killed on duty Fair pay – the case for collective bargaining and binding arbitration


Simplify DG6 – seeking legislative change to reduce pre-charge disclosure bureaucracy Time Limits – for police misconduct investigations #AskTwice – looking after officers’ mental health and wellbeing

•The NCO works with the NSO, CEO, National Board & National Council to submit responses to consultations, inquiries, and evidence sessions by policing and political bodies.


•The NCO acts as leading spokesperson for PFEW with the media.


•The NCO is responsible for how PFEW engages with internal and external audiences – including members, Fed Reps, government, politicians, leaders in policing and media.

•The NCO supports members by taking concerns about pay and conditions, pensions, wellbeing and welfare, equipment, numbers, bureaucracy, complaints, etc direct to police leaders, politicians and media, to seek changes for the better for members, thereby allowing a better service delivery to the public.
