POLICY
Who we are: A team of subject matter experts supporting the National Secretary’s Office (NSO) and business area leads to advocate for improvements to members’ terms and conditions.
Collaboratively working with the Research and Pension functions to ensure all our work considers carefully the long-term impact on our members’ fair pay and conditions, career progression, and overall wellbeing and retirement as they navigate through different stages of their policing careers.
How do we support members:
The Policy Team provides advice and support to the NSO to assist them representing members. We also provide advice to Branch Boards to assist them in supporting members. We do this through:
•Identifying and researching potential changes to terms and conditions •Drafting proposals for the NSO •Preparing meeting briefs for the NSO
•Reviewing proposals from the NPCC/HO/College of Policing and preparing responses for the NSO
•Reviewing proposed changes to police regulations and determinations and coordinating PFEW response to the HO or College of Policing
LOOK AT THE LOCAL WORK •Drafting Branch Board circulars on terms and conditions matters
•Answering queries about terms and conditions from National Board members, Branch Boards and other staff associations
•Producing the Quick Reference Guide for Branch Boards

The Policy team has delivered significant contributions for members through its collaboration with the NSO in negotiating on behalf of the membership. Below highlights areas we have supported to obtain a positive change, as well as improvements to ways of working with partners/forums such as the PCF to make the review of members' terms and conditions as efficient and effective as possible.
